2009 World War II Essay Contest
The Eldred World War II Museum and Learning Center is pleased to announce our 2009 essay contest. The
contest is designed to encourage student scholarship and foster a greater understanding of World War II.
The topic for the 2009 essay is "What sacrifices did Americans make during World War II and why were
those sacrifices necessary?"
The contest is open to High School Juniors and Seniors. All entries must include a title page, a 5-page
essay and a source page. Entries will be accepted from January 1 - March 16 2009.
Any entry that is not original student writing and research will be disqualified.
Five winning essays will be chosen with the winning student and teachers recognized at an Awards
Luncheon on May 8, 2009. Prizes for the essay contest winners are as follows:
1st Place - $1000.00
2nd Place - $600.00
3rd Place - $400.00
4th Place - $200.00
5th Place - $100.00
